As usual, we take a look at rare earth cost trends useful for your purchases of Neodymium and Samarium magnets (attached are graphs from Prnd, DyFe and Co)
Since the beginning of the year, rare earths have all been steadily and slightly declining.
This excellent trend is allowing magnet orders to be issued at particularly competitive prices and especially to book production for the upcoming Chinese New Year (closures scheduled in China from January 27 to February 17).
Magnet orders received by the end of January will enjoy the current quotations and will have priority in production at the reopenings in China scheduled to begin in mid-February-.
We therefore encourage you to contact your relevant Sales Representative to make the best arrangements for 2025 magnet production.

Some interesting facts about Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is celebrated on 29 January 2025
The weeks leading up to the holiday are devoted to preparations, which begin with a thorough cleaning of the house, a symbol of removing the bad luck accumulated in the previous year. This gesture, known as ‘sweeping away the dust‘, represents a new beginning.
Chinese New Year is also the time of the largest annual human movement in the world, known as Chunyun, during which millions of people move to join their loved ones.
Red decorations dominate the environment, with lanterns, scrolls and symbolic images adorning the streets and homes, bringing messages of protection and good luck.
The evening of the eve is marked by the reunion dinner, a central moment when families gather to share traditional dishes such as ravioli, a symbol of good luck, and fish, representing abundance.
It will be the year of the Wooden Serpent
The Year of the Wood Snake is loaded with symbolic meanings. The snake represents wisdom, introspection and stability, while the wood element confers strength and rootedness. These aspects suggest a year of harmony, inner balance and attention to family values.
Those born under the sign of the Snake (years 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025)
are distinguished by their wisdom. The Serpent is a highly valued sign in Asia, not least because of its beauty and cunning. It also symbolises deep intelligence, a reserved nature and a remarkable capacity for adaptation and renewal, since the snake is able to change its skin.
Chinese New Year celebrations are also widespread in all cities with an important presence of Chinese communities. In Italy, in Milan it will be celebrated on 02 February with a festival organised at the Arco della Pace. In Rome, the Chinese community will organise many events from 7 to 9 February in the Nicola Calipari Gardens.
